Derek Martinez graduated from Menlo College with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting. He began his career working in “Big 4” public accounting in the Silicon Valley where he was able to experience firsthand how some of the most successful companies in the world run their operations. After making the decision to move back to southern California he also made the switch to the fund accounting space, where he has been working for the past 6 years. While working at a prior private mortgage REIT in 2020, Derek was able to obtain his CPA license before making the move to Artes Capital in May of 2021.

As his role has become more financial reporting focused, he has enjoyed the challenge of learning what information is relevant in operational decision making. “My goal is understanding the needs of our team and accurately providing them financial data to make informed business decisions. It is rewarding to know that behind the scenes my work has an impact on every relationship the Artes Capital team puts so much effort into building and maintaining.”

Derek is originally from Palmdale and currently living Los Angeles. Having played baseball for over twenty years he is an avid Dodgers fan. When he is not on the golf course, you can find him and his wife crossing restaurants off their ever-growing list of places to eat in LA.
